Cuttack: Vigilance officials on Thursday nabbed Haramohan Nayak, the inspector in-charge (IIC) of Narasinghpur police station in Cuttack area, for demanding and taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from Cuttack Vigilance Constable Sushant Samal.

Complainant Samal alleged that the IIC had demanded the bribe after he asked him to settle an land dispute held up against himself. Later, the Constable reported the matter to Vigilance authorities taking after which a trap was laid and the IIC was caught in the act.

After arresting Nayak, Vigilance officials raided his Government quarters at Narasinghpur and his house at Mahisapata in Dhenkanal simultaneously. During the search, the teams seized many important documents. Investigation is on into the matter, said Vigilance Cuttack Division DSP Ananta Narayan Mohanty.
