Malkangiri: The death toll due to Japanese Encephalitis climbed to 38 with four more deaths late on Wednesday night.
As indicated by sources, four more children undergoing treatment at the district hospital passed on the last night taking the death toll to 38 in 28 days.
Meanwhile, with the Japanese Encephalitis spreading its tentacles wide, Congress leader Pradeep Majhi demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation to each of victim’s family and vaccination to all children in the district at the earliest.
On Wednesday, former Nabarangpur MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi staged dharna with bodies of two kids, who died of the disease, in front of the Collector’s residence demanding compensation.
