Jaipur: Normal life in Koraput area went to a grinding halt on Wednesday as individuals from the Jana Surakhya Mancha called for a dawn-to-dusk bandh to protest the Kandhamal firing, which killed five innocent villagers, including a 15-month old baby, on July 8.

Individuals from the Mancha blocked streets at Semiliguda, Patangi and Sunki ranges conveying vehicular development to a pounding stop in the locale. The disturbing individuals were seen picketing in numerous spots by smoldering tires on the road.

However, emergency services and educational institutions were spared from the purview of the shutdown.

According to sources, all private buses plying in the city have stayed off roads today in view of the bandh.
