Malkangiri: The Japanese Encephalitis death toll climbed to 82 with three more deaths in malkangiri today even as the authority admitted the situation has remained grim for last few days.

Ramesh Padiami of Daniguda succumbed to the disease while undergoing treatment at the Malkangiri DHH in the morning while Ramesh Pujari of Katapali under Mathili block and Rasi Madhi of Dangasakhal under Korakanda block died two hours before. Sister of Ramesh Padiami also died of the vector borne disease two days ago in the DHH.

Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Nruparaj Sahoo, who is currently in Malkangiri to monitor the government works to prevent the outbreak of the disease, said the situation has not improved as per the expectation.
