Cuttack, Dec 20 (PTI) With discrepancies in reality and affidavits filed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on the ongoing repair work of Jagamohan (prayer hall) of Shree Jagannath temple at Puri, the Orissa High Court today asked ASI to file a detailed report on the issue immediately.

The division bench of Chief Justice Vineet Saran and Justice B R Sarangi fixed the matter to be heard again on Thursday.

The discrepancy in ASI’s affidavits surfaced after the HC-appointed one-man commission’s report was opened in the court during the day.

Engineer-turned-advocate N K Mohanty in his report has apparently pointed out that the repair works done as per the ASI affidavits, are far from reality.

Mohanty was asked by the HC to visit the temple and file a report to the court in a sealed cover about the ongoing repair of the temple.

The HC is at present adjudicating over a PIL which sought judicial interventions and monitoring of the repair work of the prayer hall of the 12th century shrine.

A Cuttack resident had approached the HC after it was alleged by different quarters that ASI was not serious about the renovation and maintenance of the temple.
