Bharuch : Four people died and eight labourers were harmed because of a leak at the TDI (Toluene diisocyanate) gas plant of Gujarat Narmada vale fertiliser Ltd. (GNFC) at Dahej in Bharuch, in the wee hours today.

This is that the second such incident at the plant as an gas leak in January 2014 affected over twenty one labourers. The Bharuch District Administration’s Disaster Management team, at the side of GPCB and police, reached the spot and commenced probe. Dahej police registered a criticism.

Dahej police inspector Vipul Patel said, “We have started probe into the incident and the company has been shut down. All the employees and labourers had been evacuated.

Other eight who were affected are still undergoing treatment at a private hospital, while the condition of two others is said to be critical. The GPCB, Factory inspector and Disaster teams have also reached and they have started probe.”

He further added, “This is the second such incident in the same plant as earlier in January 2014, a phosgene gas leakage incident had affected 21 labourers. But no casualties were reported.”
