A First Investigation Report (FIR) was filed against student leader Shehla Rashid on Monday after she tweeted information about Kashmiri girls in Dehradun that the police said was false.

On Saturday — February 16 — Shehla Rashid wrote in a tweet that between 15 and 20 Kashmiri girls were trapped in a Dehradun hostel for hours, and that an angry mob was demanding they be expelled. She said the police were unable to disperse the mob.

She posted this tweet a couple of days after the suicide attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 40 jawans were martyred.

The Uttarakhand Police dismissed Rashid’s alert as a rumour, and said the police sorted things out. “There are no crowds,” the state police said in a Twitter message on Saturday. “Initially, there was some confusion regarding slogans by Kashmiri girls in favour of Pakistan, which was resolved.”
