Srinagar : Administration on Friday clamped curfew in a some parts of Srinagar city to prevent post-prayer protest.
The police said section 144 has been clamped in old city Nowhatta territory while curfew would stay in drive in different parts to maintain law and order.
The joint resistance initiative has declared that they would defy curfew to offer Friday prayer at the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta.
Police spokesperson told journalists that curfew has been re-imposed in five police stations which cover Old Srinagar and ares which come under Batamaloo police station too are under curfew.
Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, after being shifted to his residence, has been placed under house arrest in his uptown Nigeen residence in the outskirts of Srinagar.
