Muzaffarnagar, Dec 14 (PTI) Five police officials, including a sub-inspector, were suspended in connection with the escaping of a murder accused from their custody near Khatauli town of the district.
Muntalib escaped from the police custody on the Delhi-Dehradun national highway yesterday while he was being taken in a bus to Meerut after a court hearing in Muzaffarnagar.
SHO Daurala police station Yashvir Singh said three out of five police officials were found absent at the time of the incident.
Yesterday, police constables Naresh and Shrikant were booked and arrested for negligence of duty.
The escapee Muntalib, was involved in several cases of murder and loot, police said. He is a history-sheeter in Purkazi village of the district and had been lodged in Pilibhit jail.
