Bhubaneswar: Members of Odisha private transport owners’ association on Monday met Transport minister Ramesh Majhi and requested withdrawal of case against Rishabha Tripathy, the owner of “Maharaja” bus. 21 travelers were killed and 20 others harmed when the Athmallik-bound transport tumbled off a bridge close Angul on September 10.

The association named the arrest “unlawful” and looked for action against the police inspector who lodged case against Tripathy.

“Would action be taken against the government officials in case of State-run buses,” a member of the association questioned?

Meanwhile Majhi said owner of the ill-fated bus has not been arrested under MVI act. “So, Home department can take further step. We will discuss with the Home department officials in this matter and action will be taken accordingly”, the minister said.
