NAVI MUMBAI: Six college student of Pune were killed after the speeding car in which they were voyaging brushed the sideways of a unidentified vehicle, trying to overtake it, and lost control. The car travelling towards Pune took a somersault a few times and turned turtle on the highway. While four youths were tossed out of the car, two others must be removed from the damaged car using apparatus.
The fatal mishap occurred on Monday around 3 am when the car had crossed the Kamshet tunnel at 73/300 kms distance on the Pune carriageway.
While five youths were killed on the spot, the sixth youth who was alive and severely injured had to be rushed in an ambulance to Lokmanya Hospital at Nigdi, Pune, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased youths have been identified as Akshay Bhilare (22), Aditya Bhandarkar (21), both from Bavdan in Pune, Sarang Chirale (20) and Abishek Rai (21), both from SKN Commerce College at Karve road, Pune, Umesh Patil (23) and Jokim Samuel (22).
