Mumbai: It has been 14 years, and still the country recounts the horrifying terrorist attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba that brought the city to a grinding halt. On this day in 2008, the terrorist attack killed hundreds of people and injured several others.

At least ten terrorists attacked various places in which 166 people, including security personnel, lost their lives at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Hotel Trident, Nariman House, Leopold Cafe and Cama Hospital.

Leopold Café was one of the first places to be attacked on that night. The whole city was left shaken as the LeT terrorists took the guests at the Taj Hotel and The Oberoi as hostages. At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, two terrorists opened fire at the passenger hall using AK-47 rifles, killing 58 people and injuring 104 others.

Two attackers and several residents were held hostages at Nariman House. Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist caught alive was hanged to death at the Yerawada central prison in Pune on March 12, 2018.

Honouring the security personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, President Droupadi Murmu said the nation shares the enduring pain of the victim’s loved ones and families.
